Fingering and posture

One of the aspects of playing most overlooked by players are finger position and posture.

When you play the saxophone, you should be sitting on the first six inches of your chair, back straight. This will allow you to intake the maximum amount of air. When one's posture is slouched and hunched over, the lungs collapse and cannot be used to full capacity.

Another important aspect o playing is the fingering position. only the tips of your fingers should be used to press down the keys. Often, players might get in the lazy habit of using the bottoms of their finger pads or even the knuckle joint to press down keys. You should use the furthest tip of your fingers. This will allow for the quickest and nimblest action on the keys.
